Open Missions: Industrial Update 2
25/12/2025 • Dev Blog

Happy Holidays Tamers!
As the Open Missions platform settles into its newly refreshed form, we hope you’ve been enjoying the return to daily expeditions.
Season 2 has already reshaped the world with new routes, new drops, and an updated mission economy.
But some players believed that what we released in Update I was everything.
It wasn’t.
Today, we’re revealing the next set of changes that will reshape how Tamers approach missions. These changes set the stage for the Tamer Forge and the KTTY Mining Colonies, and introduce new layers of depth, identity, and strategic variation.
Tamer Specialization
Every Tamer has its own rhythm, but until now, those strengths had no formal identity inside the Dispatch System.
With the next update, we’re introducing the Tamer Specialization System:
a long-form progression layer that gives every Tamer a role, a purpose, and a way to grow over time.
This is not a gimmick.
It’s a foundational system that prepares the world for the Tamer Forge and the KTTY Mining Colonies, and reshapes how players approach daily missions.
What is Tamer Specialization?
Each Tamer can now level into five distinct roles, each reflecting a different approach to mission strategy:
Explorer: masters of uncovering better field resources
Hunter: momentum-driven tacticians who thrive on consecutive successes
Warrior: battle-born Tamers who bring home greater spoils
Collector: adaptive gatherers who squeeze extra value out of every run
Attuner: harmonization specialists who accelerate mission flow
But unlike classic “class” systems, Specialization is not restrictive.
Every Tamer has all five specialization tracks, leveling them over time through mission activity. Players then choose one active role, the one they want that Tamer to embody right now.
Specializations are:
-
Additive, not mandatory
-
A long-term expression of identity
-
A strategic layer for players who want deeper optimization
-
A way to give every Tamer a meaningful niche without power creep
How Specialization Progress Works
Tamers earn experience points as they participate in missions.
Each Role maps to a specific mission type. You will only gain experience in a given role by running missions of the required type.
| Mission Type | Primary Role XP |
|---|---|
| Exploration | Explorer |
| Hunt | Hunter |
| Battle | Warrior |
| Retrieval | Collector |
| Harmonization | Attuner |
Levelling up a role will unlock unique global bonuses that apply to every mission, not just a specific type.
tl:dr - if you want to level up Explorer bonuses for your tamers, you will need to run Exploration type missions.
Each role has 10 levels, with a progressively larger exp requirement as you level up.
| Level | EXP to Next | Total EXP |
|---|---|---|
| 0 → 1 | 100 | 100 |
| 1 → 2 | 150 | 250 |
| 2 → 3 | 200 | 450 |
| 3 → 4 | 300 | 750 |
| 4 → 5 | 450 | 1200 |
| 5 → 6 | 650 | 1850 |
| 6 → 7 | 900 | 2750 |
| 7 → 8 | 1200 | 3950 |
| 8 → 9 | 1600 | 5550 |
| 9 → 10 | 2200 | 7750 |
EXP is:
- awarded per Tamer, based on mission tier.
- not affected by crit
- not affected by specialization bonuses
- not affected by active role selection
Players will be able to view:
- The Tamer’s current active role
- EXP progress in all five roles
- Role bonuses and their effects
- How the specialization affects the mission outcome directly inside the Assign Team menu
The Five Roles & Their Core Bonuses
Each role unlocks a named global bonus that shapes mission outcomes in a unique way.
Explorer: Field Discovery
Increases the % chance of receiving drops from the preferred bucket of a mission type drop table
NOTE:
Every mission type has its own unique drop table. For Normal and Rare type drops, there is a preferred and a secondary bucket. Every time you complete a mission you have a % chance to receive a drop from one of the two buckets per item role.
Hunter: Chain Hunt
Increases the streak bonus earned from completing successive mission runs
NOTE:
This applies to your score before score modifiers like crits or jackpots.
Warrior: Spoils of War
Increases PAW rewards earned from missions.
Collector: Finders Keepers
Provides a chance to earn an additional item roll at the end of a mission.
Attuner: Flow State
Reduces mission duration, allowing faster overall mission cycling.
And regardless of which role you choose, every specialization also provides a universal Mission Points boost. This strengthens performance across the entire platform without affecting drop rarity or crit.
Bonuses stack additively, so whether you choose to stack up a single type of bonus, or mix and match them to fit your needs, we hope that this will add a new level of strategy to your gameplay.
Transfer Rules: How Specialization Moves Between Owners
To keep the system economically sound and strategically fair, we’re implementing a hybrid transfer model.
What Transfers
- All role levels
- All EXP progress
A Tamer’s earned history stays with it forever.
Seasonal Mission Boosts: Weekly Shifts in the Meta
With Specializations giving individual Tamers their own identity, the next step is giving the world itself a living rhythm.
Starting soon, Open Missions will enter a weekly Season Cycle.
Each week shifts the environment into a new state. One that subtly changes:
- which missions feel more rewarding
- which team compositions shine brightest
- which farming strategies rise to the top
These Seasons won’t replace difficulty or mission structure.
They will simply nudge the meta, encouraging players to adapt, explore, and experiment.
Four Seasons, One Continuous Loop
The cycle rotates through four distinct Seasonal states:
Mossheart
Redfang
Silven
Starfall
Then the cycle repeats.
Each Season will bring its own unique blend of temporary mission boosts, tailored to highlight different playstyles and mission goals.
Some Seasons might emphasize resource gathering efficiency, others might reward streak-based gameplay, while others may offer advantages to speed-focused or PAW-focused strategies.
Enter the Chaos Dungeon
As Open Missions continue to grow, one of our goals is to keep the experience fresh.
Even with new missions, new drops, and rotation systems, we know the daily loop can still settle into predictable patterns.
So for this update, we're introducing something designed to break routine entirely.
Welcome to the Chaos Dungeon.
A New Type of Expedition
Chaos Dungeon missions are short, fast expeditions that introduce a new layer of unpredictability to the platform.
They’re designed to disrupt repetition and give players a mission slot dedicated to pure randomness.
Each Chaos Dungeon run rewards:
- A random amount of PAW
- A Chaos Box
What’s Inside a Chaos Box?
We’re not saying.
Part of the Chaos Dungeon’s identity is discovery. Finding out what can drop, what can’t, and what new rewards might appear later.
What we can say is this.
Chaos Boxes include a chance to receive:
- forge blueprints
- material shards
- crafting materials
...and potentially more
The full list won’t be revealed at launch.
Players will have to explore, compare, and share what they’re finding across multiple runs.
Limited, for a Reason
Chaos Dungeon missions are intentionally capped per day.
This keeps them special, keeps them unpredictable, and ensures that they don’t overshadow the main mission routes.
They are not a replacement for your primary expeditions.
They are the wildcard, the daily roll, the variable that keeps things interesting as we evolve toward the Mining Colonies and the Tamer Forge.
In Closing
Since the conclusion of the companions mint, we have been extremely hard at work in the basement working on the next chapters of KTTY World.
We are committed to continuing to find new ways for the community to play and experience the world we are crafting.
Expect more in 2026 as we move through the rest of the Industrial KTTY Revolution update and beyond!
